HISTORY: The custom of carving and giving Welsh Lovespoons originated in Wales hundreds of years ago. The young men of today would probably buy flowers, chocolates or jewellery as a token of affection. Centuries ago in Wales, the young lover would also give gifts of sweets or cakes; but they would also give a special, more personal gift to the object of their desire, the Welsh Love Spoon - <A HREF="javascript:void(0)"onclick="window.open('http://www.cadwyngifts.com/pages/history.html','linkname','height=400, width=700,scrollbars=yes')">Read the full History of Welsh Love Spoons here

Symbol has a different Meaning. There has been much debate on the significance of the different symbols and motifs used in the carving of lovespoons. Many of the young carvers were shy and unwilling to show their emotions, and this would attempt to convey their true feelings through the use of various symbols. Over the centuries, many more symbols and motifs have been added and as the love spoons became more elaborate and decorative, they have become collectables - <A HREF="javascript:void(0)"onclick="window.open('http://www.cadwyngifts.com/pages/meanings.html','linkname','height=400, width=700,scrollbars=yes')">View the meanings of the Symbols here

Paul Curtis, a native of South Wales, grew up in a family of four children. Her business started as a Gallery and craft centre, but after an inspirational visit to an exhibition of Celtic jewellery and treasures, she taught herself to make jewellery - since then her unique designs have won her an international reputation.

Even so, every piece of Rhiannon Jewellery is still made by hand in Tregaron. Although the original centre has grown, it is still based in the same building, right in the middle of the historic market town of Tregaron. Together with three of her sons, Rhiannon ensures that the company is still a 'real' and successful Welsh business.

All of the following Pendants and Earrings are available in either Silver or 9ct Gold.

The quarying of slate has been a feature of life in the mountanous regions of north Wales. Whole communities sprang up around the slate quarries and generations of families have worked the quarries in towns such as Bethesda and Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Now you can have a gift in slate as a piece of the Welsh mountanside hand-crafted using traditional techniques to split the stone into narrow slices. We use the black slate from Blaenau Ffestiniog and hand-print on to them proud symbols of Wales, our Red Dragon and Daffodils, our national emblems, our National Anthem and intricate Celtic Designs.

All
