Fair Trade Gifts

Cadwyn has a very personal view of Fair Trade. Our concept of Fair Trade stems from our respect for and friendship with the groups of craftspeople in Africa and other parts of the world who produce the goods.

All our Fair Trade gifts are the creations of Village Co-operatives and traditional Family Enterprises mostly in Africa. We have direct contact with the artisans who produce the goods and visit them regularly to discuss and plan production, assist with finance, and control quality.

We ensure regular production and shipment, and keep these Fair Trade gifts in stock at our depot to honour our guarantee to despatch all orders to you within 2 working days. We invite you to browse through these pages and discover something of the magic of the regions that have created these beautiful gifts. In these pages you will meet a number of Artisans as well as photos of these unique ethnic gifts.

We often engage in wider social projects such as working to fund part of a Medecins Sans Frontieres project in Maradi, Niger, when the area of the country in which our artisans lived and worked was struck by a terrible famine. We campaign for improved international connections in banking and telecommunications for these impoverished communities and for access to visas so that representatives can attend demonstrations of their work in Europe.

We ensure that the producers get a fair price for their work and to ensure the sustainability of production, but we also ensure the fairest price possible for customers in Europe by keeping our own margins down to the minimum, which is again consistent with sustainability.
